Sea Drift is a gaff cutter built on a fibreglass hull of 45''. The boat displaces around 19lb and has sail control on the main only. The sail winch is an old Futaba winch purchased around twenty five to thirty years ago. The hull was originally marketed by a firm called JB Mouldings and was described as a 60's ocean racer but she appeared to be suitable for an older type and my model is based on a Solent One Design with a nice companion and skylight made from bright finished mahogany.
I'm fairly certain that the hull is now being marketed as a kit called 'Moonbeam' and described as a 1910 pond yacht, but comparing my hull to examples of Moonbeam I have seen, she looks identical -so it shows what a versatile hull she is.
At one stage I re-made the sails with terylene dinghy cloth, replacing the poly-cotton set made originally. This was a mistake and when I refurbish the boat I will get a new set of cotton sail made- courtesy of my wife. Most of the photos of this boat are with the terylene sails.
